Budget Session to commence today 
JAMMU, JAN 1: The budget session of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, starting tomorrow, is expected to be stormy with opposition NC and Congress making it clear they will corner the BJP-PDP Government on its move to grant identity cards to the Hindu refugees from West Pakistan settled in the state. The session will begin with Governor N N Vohra's address to a joint sitting of the legislature and end on February 4. Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu will.................

Ladakh legislators urge CM for stern action

JAMMU, JAN 1: A delegation of legislators from Leh and Kargil comprising CLP leader Nawang Rigzin Jora, Asgar Karbalai, Agha Baqir Razvi and Deldan Namgyal met the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today over the issue of molestation of a Ladakhi Student. The delegation expressed serious concern over the incident and demanded stern action against the culprit, a senior doctor of the Forensic Dept. of GMC Jammu. Cold, foggy weather to continue in J&K

SRINAGAR, JAN 1: Despite partial cloud cover on Sunday, dry and cold wave conditions continued in Jammu and Kashmir as the weather office said there can be snowfall by the middle of this week. "Moderate snowfall is likely to occur in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir on January 4, 5 and 6, while there would be rainfall in the plains," Sonam Lotus, Director of the Met department, said. According to the official, the night's lowest temperature was minus 4.3 degrees Celsius in Srinagar and Pahalgam............

Load carrier driver dies in accident  
SRINAGAR: A load carrier driver died after being hit by a speeding passenger vehicle (LP bus) near J&K High Court Srinagar on Sunday. The incident occurred at 4:30 pm when the load carrier on way to Jehangir Chowk was hit by a passenger vehicle near J&K High Court Srinagar. The injured was rushed to the SMHS hospital for treatment where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police has identified the deceased as Mushtaq Ahmad of Batamaloo. The driver of the vehicle has fled from the spot, however, police.........................
