3Elections to 6 J&K MLC seats on Apr 17 
The elections for six seats of the Upper House are to be held here on April 17.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer Shantmanu today held a meeting with the officers of Legislative Assembly Secretariat and discussed the arrangements to be put in place for the smooth conduct of Biennial elections to elect the Members of Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Council (MLCs).
The elections for six seats of the Upper House are to be held on April 17, 2017 while the voting hours have been fixed from 0900 hours to 1600 hours.
The counting will be held on the same day.
The formal notification in this regard would be issued on March 22, 2017 ...

Pak proposal on Gilgit-Baltistan entirely unacceptable: India
New Delhi, Mar 16: India today termed as "entirely unacceptable" any possible attempt by Pakistan to declare the Gilgit-Baltistan region, bordering disputed PoK, as the fifth province.
Reacting sharply to reports that a committee headed by Pakistan's Foreign Affairs Advisor Sartaj Aziz has proposed status of a province to Gilgit-Baltistan, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Gopal Baglay said any such step would not be able to hide the illegality of Pakistan's occupation of parts of Jammu and Kashmir which it must vacate, forthwith....

Subash Jandial assumes office as VC JKSIDCO

JAMMU, MAR 16: Subash Jandial today assumed the office as Vice Chairman, J&K SIDCO here today in presence of the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh; Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga and Minister for Health, Bali Bhagat. VC Kissan Vikas Board, D S Chib; VC SC/ST and OBC Board, Balbir Ram Ratan; Legislators, Ashok Khajuria, Rajesh Gupta, Charanjet Khalsa, prominent political and social activists were also present on the occasion.
Later in an introductory meeting with functionaries of the Corporation, the Vice Chairman assured that he will try his level best to contribute for development and welfare of the organization with support of all functionaries.


Ganga kick-starts construction work of compound wall

NIA takes over probe in Ujjain train blast case
NEW DELHI MAR 16: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the probe into the March 7 Bhopal-Ujjain passenger train blast in Shajapur district of Madhya Pradesh, officials said here on Thursday. Details and documents related to the probe have been handed over to an NIA team, which arrived here from Delhi on Wednesday, a state government official said.
The agency, which takes over the probe from Madhya Pradesh Police, is now expected to start questioning the three accused — Mohammad Danish, Mohammad Atif Muzaffar and Sayed Meer Husain — who were arrested from Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh, hours after the blast, the official added.

Two Indian Sufi clerics go missing in Pakistan
NEW DELHI MAR 16: Two Indian Sufi clerics reportedly went missing in Pakistan. Indian authorities have raised the issue with the Pakistan foreign ministry, it added. They have been identified as Asif Nizami and Nazim Nizami. The two clerics both belonged to Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin dargah.
They travelled to Pakistan to visit their relatives in Karachi and, then, embarked on a pilgrimage to Lahore. One of them went missing in Karachi and the other in Lahore............

French School Shooting: 8 injured including Head Teacher
PARIS, Mar 16: Three people suffered gunshot wounds and another five were hurt during a shooting at a school in the south of France on Thursday, a spokesman from the interior ministry said. The three people with light gunshot injuries were taken to hospital, while the five others were treated for wounds sustained during a stampede after the shooting, the spokesman said........

H-1B Visa Applications For 2018 To Be Accepted From April 3
