Islamabad, Mar 23: Raking up the Kashmir issue as an "unfinished agenda" of partition, Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain today accused India of "jeopardising" regional peace through "consistent" ceasefire violations.

 Police investigating FIR against poet Srijato
kolkata, Mar 23: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today stood beside poet Srijato Bandyopadhyay against whom a Hindutva group has lodged an FIR for writing a poem allegedly hurting Hindu sentiments.
"There will be no problem and I will take full care.
I have asked the police to conduct an investigation into the matter and submit the report to me. Do not worry," Banerjee said during an interview to a local news channel here this evening. ..................

 

 Swami Aseemanand granted bail by Hyderabad court
NEW DELHI, Mar 23 : A court in Hyderabad granted bail to Swami Aseemanand in the Mecca Masjid blast case on Thursday, reports news agency. He will be released from the jail after the formalities are over. Nine people were killed and several others injured when an IED exploded inside the mosque in Hyderabad on May 18, 2007. The former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) member had earlier confessed upon role of right-wing activists in the attack but he later retracted his statement. Aseemanand, along with six others, was also acquitted by a National Investigation Agency (ANI) special court in the Ajmer Dargah blast case earlier this month.

Dalai's successor should be from his native town: Scholar
 Beijing, Mar 23: The Dalai Lama's successor should be from his native town in Tibet, a senior official from a Chinese state-run think tank on Tibet said today. In a rare interaction with the foreign media here, Lian Xiangmin, Director of contemporary research of the Beijing- based China Tibetology Research Centre, said the next successor of the 81-year-old Dalai Lama should come from his native town in China's Qinghai province, which is previously part of integrated Tibetan region. ...............

Armed man held for driving at crowd in Belgium's Antwerp
ANTWERP, Mar 23: Belgian security forces arrested a French national Thursday after he tried to drive into a crowd of shoppers at high speed in the port city of Antwerp, officials said.
Authorities found a rifle and bladed weapons in the car after the 39-year-old man tried to flee and was detained in the northern city, prosecutors said.  The incident was the third in a week in the European Union after attacks at Orly airport in Paris and London, and came a day after the first anniversary of the Brussels suicide bombings that killed 32 people. ...............
