CRPF jawan martyred, 5 hurt in militant attack

Srinagar, Apr 3: A CRPF jawan was today martyred and five other personnel were injured along with two civilians, including a 10-year-old girl, as militants targeted a convoy in Srinagar, in yet another attack on security forces. Militants opened fire on a civilian passenger vehicle carrying CRPF jawans at Sempora in the Pantha Chowk area in the afternoon, a police official said. He said six CRPF personnel were injured in the attack by the militants, who managed to flee taking advantage

 Govt exploring ways to deport 10,000 Rohingyas from J&K
New Delhi, Apr 3: More than 10,000 Rohingya Muslims belonging to Myanmar are currently living in Jammu and Kashmir and the central and the state governments are exploring ways on how to identify and deport them. The Rohingya Muslims are mostly living in Jammu and Samba districts and came to the state after entering India illegally through either Indo-Bangladesh border or Indo-Myanmar border or travelling through the Bay of Bengal. The issue of Rohingya Muslims, who are living illegally, was discussed at a high-level meeting convened by Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi and attended by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Braj Raj Sharma and Director

Prime Minister ignores Jammu, pampers Kashmir': Pawan

UDHAMPUR, APR 3: Prime Minister's visit to Jammu yesterday for inaugurating Chenani-Nashri tunnel in Jammu province has sent a wave of disappointment through the entire length and breadth of Jammu region. While addressing the gathering in Udhampur, Prime Minister chose to ignore Jammu and Ladhakh completely in his speech. Once again, as he has done in past also, the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi chose soil of Jammu to address people of Kashmir, as if Jammu did not exist in any policy or scheme of Government of India.  ...................

 

Ravinder Sharma flays Government for discrimination with Jammu

India failed to deter xenophobic, racist attacks: African envoys

NEW DELHI, Apr 3: African envoys today severely criticized India for taking no measures to deter or to properly condemn the "xenophobic and racial attacks" against Africans in the country. Institutions with good ranking to get more funds and autonomy, says Govt
New Delhi, Apr 3: Good performance in educational rankings conducted by the government would result in more funding and autonomy, Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar said on Monday after announcing the India Rankings for 2017. “The educational institutions performing well in the annual ranking will be awarded with more funding or grants, enhanced autonomy and freedom of functioning and various other benefits,” Javadekar said at the release of the second domestic rankings under the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). SC allows Gujarat to accept DGP PP Pandey’s offer to step down

New Delhi, Apr 3: Gujarat government was today allowed by the Supreme Court to accept the offer of P P Pandey, a 1980 batch Gujarat-cadre IPS officer who is on extension till April 30, to relinquish the posts of Director General (DGP) and Inspector General of police (IGP) forthwith. St. Petersburg metro explosion: 9 killed, over 20 injured
